I'll start by saying: I am in love with this session!
When Michelle booked this year's session for her daughter's birthday, I came up with multiple concepts. Once Michelle chose the snow princess concept, I got right to work!
When it comes to creativity, my brain is much like a scrambled mess of dreams, so it was pretty easy for me to get creative and envision exactly what I wanted. I could envision the darkness, the vast winter silence, the purple-ish-blues that represent the cold. I wanted the images to represent the frigid chill, and yet allow an element of warmth. I could see it all in my head.. it was just a matter of making it happen!
On to the sewing part.. yikes! I am not a seamstress, but my mom is! I purchased the fabric I had wanted to create the Snow Princess cloak and took it over to my parent's place. My mom not only helped me put it together, but also taught me a thing or two about sewing. (I now have her old sewing machine, as she bought a new one.. so I am bound to learn a lot more about sewing in the very near future.)
We put everything together in one night. It looked perfect!
The next day, I began my search for the undercloathing... I needed a full flowing ivory skirt, which, after searching for a few days, I found in a thirft store for $4.00, SCORE!
The day of the session came, everything went together perfectly, including the sky! From the crimped hair, to the little diamonds we placed near her eyes.. she looked like the sweetest little snow princess I had ever seen.
Here are some images from our snow princess stylized session!
